About Project

This role is an opportunity for you to join the highly successful Southern Program Alliance is contracted by Victorian Government to remove most dangerous and congested level crossings. This is a critical infrastructure project with significant public impact.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Alliance General Manager the Program Engineering Manager will plan, manage, and control engineering design through all stages of the development, tendering, delivery and project completion to ensure appropriate and compliant engineering design solutions are developed, implemented and closed out to enable successful project delivery.

The Program Wide Engineering Manager is responsible for overall design compliance of the scope a to our contractual obligations within time and cost constraints whilst realising the project profit objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement project standards, optimize risk and schedules, and lead complex projects with tight deadlines.

  • Performance & Process: Evaluate performance against schedules, implement ACCIONA's design control tools, and coach teams on high-impact risk mitigation.

  • Stakeholder & Approvals: Establish stakeholder engagement protocols, resolve conflicts, track design approvals, and align practices with project goals.

  • Value & Constructability: Develop frameworks for value engineering, champion constructability and design growth, and resolve multidisciplinary design challenges.

  • Technical Oversight: Manage all technical outputs from designers and sub-consultants, monitor design programs, and ensure timely design output.

  • Cost & Quality: Monitor design costs, provide cost-efficient design output, and ensure design quality aligns with Alliance standards.

  • Team Development: Train staff in design management, mentor teams, and coach Engineering Coordinators and Quality Leads.

  • Strategic Input: Participate in value engineering, consultant selection, and analyze data for process improvement.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or similar)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the construction industry, with abilities in general management and design/engineering management with a minimum 5 years within a similar role managing multiple concurrent design activities across multiple sites.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Metro Trains & V Line design review and approval processes
  • NPER Registration and eligibility to be RPEV
  • Member of Engineers Australia
  • Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and related software packages, with
  • proficiency in Excel and Project a must (proficiency in Primavera P6 an advantage).
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
