Job Description

Acciona Agua is hiring a highly experienced Design Manager / Process Engineering Lead to support the delivery of complex water infrastructure projects, including advanced water treatment facilities.

This leadership role is central to the strategic design, execution, and stakeholder engagement required to drive high-impact projects across Victoria.

Strategic Design Leadership

  • Lead conceptual and detailed process design for major water treatment projects

  • Oversee advanced process modelling, system optimisation, and integration of emerging technologies

  • Provide technical direction and review of engineering deliverables, procurement specifications, and design documentation

  • Champion value engineering initiatives to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and long-term operability

  • Present complex design concepts and strategic recommendations to executive stakeholders and clients

Project Execution & Governance

  • Direct development of project documentation including commissioning strategies, performance testing protocols, and O&M manuals

  • Ensure coordination between engineering, procurement, and construction teams to maintain design integrity

  • Lead technical negotiations and clarifications with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies

  • Manage resolution of critical project issues through strategic analysis and collaboration

  • Oversee vendor engagement, equipment selection, and procurement processes

Stakeholder Engagement & Team Development

  • Act as a key interface between Acciona Agua and external stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and promote a culture of technical excellence

  • Drive innovation through process improvements that enhance project competitiveness and sustainability

  • Contribute to high-level client proposals, presentations, and strategic defences

Required Skills and Competencies

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Degree in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline

  • 5+ years in senior technical roles within water infrastructure, with a focus on process engineering and leadership

  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale water treatment projects from design through commissioning

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities

  • Valid Australian driver’s license; willingness to travel interstate and internationally

  • Spanish language proficiency is advantageous
